This policy explains how Klorby (“Klorby”, “we”, “us”) handles information in the Klorby mobile app (the “App”) and on klorby.com (the “Website”). If something here is unclear, email us at hello@klorby.com.
1. What stays on your phone
Klorby is built to work offline. Everything you add to the App is stored only in the App’s private storage on your device. We never receive it. That includes:
- Your plants: names, species, personalities, locations, notes, birthdays and care history
- Plant photos, timelapse frames and rescue check-in photos
- Rooms and light readings
- Cuttings, family trees, shelf layouts and your preferences (like the name you ask Klorby to call you)
We do not ask for, and have no way to see, your name, email, phone number, contacts or location.
2. Anonymous usage stats (optional)
To learn which features people love, the App can send anonymous usage events. This is on by default and you can switch it off at any time in Settings → Privacy & data → Share anonymous usage. When it’s off, nothing is sent.
What we send
- Event names and simple counts or categories, for example “plant watered”, “timelapse exported (12 frames)” or “light measured (bright indirect)”
- Which screens are opened
- Basic technical info added by our analytics providers: device model, operating system, app version, language, approximate country and a random app-instance identifier
What we never send
- Plant names, notes, photos or anything you type
- Your advertising ID (IDFA / Android advertising ID). Klorby has no ads and does not track you across apps.
- Your precise location
Who processes it
- Google Analytics for Firebase (Google LLC). Ad-related features are turned off.
- Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation), which helps us understand how screens are used. It is set to mask on-screen content, so plant photos and text you type are not captured.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms. We use this data only to improve Klorby. We do not sell or share it for advertising.
3. Permissions the App asks for
- Camera: to take plant photos and measure light. Photos used to measure light are read on your phone and deleted right after.
- Photos: to pick plant pictures and to save timelapse videos and share cards when you ask.
- Notifications: for care reminders. They are scheduled on your phone, not sent from a server.
Features like cutting a plant out of a photo for your Plant Shelf and reading plant lines aloud also run on your device.
4. Purchases
Klorby Pro is bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handles your payment. We never see your card details, name or email. The App only checks with the store whether Pro was purchased on your account.
5. Things you choose to share
- Share cards and videos: when you share a card or video, it goes wherever you send it. Those apps’ privacy policies apply there.
- Plant Passport: a passport QR code contains the details you choose to include, such as the plant’s name, species, personality, dates and your first name. Anyone who scans it can read them. If it’s opened with a regular camera, it opens a klorby.com link. Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard request logs, which can include that link.
- Backups: a backup is a file you create and save wherever you choose (for example iCloud Drive, Google Drive or your computer). It contains your plants and photos, so keep it somewhere you trust.
- Plant-Sitter Sheet: the sheet you share includes the plant details you picked for your sitter.
6. The Website
klorby.com does not use cookies for tracking or advertising, and it has no sign-up. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (like IP address, browser type and pages requested) for security and reliability.
7. Keeping and deleting your data
Because your plant data lives only on your phone, you are in control: deleting a plant in the App removes it and its photos, and deleting the App removes everything. Anonymous usage data is kept by our analytics providers for a limited period (up to 14 months for Google Analytics) and then deleted.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example California under the CCPA/CPRA, or the EU/UK under the GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of personal information, and to not be discriminated against for using these rights. We do not sell or “share” personal information as those laws define it. Since we can’t link usage data to you, the simplest way to stop it is the switch in Settings. 9. Children
Klorby is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Security
Your data is protected by your phone’s own security, like your passcode and device encryption. We keep what leaves your phone to a minimum on purpose.
11. Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change is significant (for example, a new kind of data leaving your phone), we’ll tell you in the App first.
